Brick Walls of Technology

I’m trying guys, I really am. I’ve been sitting at this library computer for an hour, and it’s been like slamming my head repeatedly into a brick wall. It worked relatively well last week, so I do not understand why the same computer and the same scanner are now refusing to so much as save the image file as anything resembling the image I told it to make. Also, I hate HP scanjets with a fiery passion. (Though maybe I shouldn’t say that, because I don’t remember what my scanner is, and I don’t want to irritate it.) The programs they insist on using are silly and illogical and I’m not skilled enough with computers to totally bypass their “helpful” micromanaging. It has been a very busy week, and I hate to keep giving you that excuse, but it is true. I cannot remember having been this busy for this long, though I probably have been and am just blocking the memories. This weekend I should finally have some time and mental space to sit down, get a couple of pages together, and defeat the library scanner’s evil plots.

My promise to you is this: I will do everything in my power to get as many pages as possible scanned and uploaded this weekend. They will be posted as per the usual schedule. Regardless of what happens, my next blog update will not be an apology. I will write about something else entirely. Something interesting. And as soon as I get my laptop back (I sent it off today to get diagnosed and fixed, and I’m suffering from separation anxiety) I will do something awesome as a thank you for your patience and as a celebration of my reunion with my technology. For the time being, I am posting the scan that most resembles the scan I was trying to make.
