Thank you all for your patience once again as I sort things out with the site. All of the pages are back upand everything seems to be working.
But let us now depart from my frustration with the website, because I am extremely excited about this next bit of news and I wanted to share it. Are you familiar with Lora Innes’ web comic The Dreamer? If you aren’t, I recommend reading it. The main character, Beatrice, is a high school girl torn between her normal life and her dreams, which take her back to the Revolutionary War. It is funny and the art is pretty and I enjoy it. Anyway, this past summer my sister and I created an entry for The Dreamer fan art competition. We created a short film staring my sister as Bea, recreating scenes and images from the comic.
The winners were announced yesterday. We won.
I literally could not contain my joy and went sprinting from the computer in the library out to the quad, hugged one of my friends and shared the news. I think I was bouncing up and down for the next hour, which is amazing because I’ve been exhausted the past couple of days.
But the reason I’ve been exhausted? Society for Creative Anachronism recruitment. I could give you my whole spiel on what it is we do and why we are so awesome (we recreate history from 600-1600, we’re an international organization, I never knew it could be possible for me to love dance this much, I consider about 99% of the people I’ve met through it awesome, which is a huge contrast from the 10% of people who I really liked back at my high school–I was an antisocial teen) but you probably don’t really need to hear it all. What I wanted to share is that it is awesome and our demo went great and the pizza party was fantastic. With all of that following a day spent fighting with foam swords on the quad with friends I haven’t seen for three months and fixing my website which I honestly love and adore but just wish would cooperate… I think I will sleep well tonight.
