Books! Projects! Deadlines, oh my!

Another month has raced by.  If you are saddened by the sparsity of posts on the main site, I encourage you to visit my tumblr.  That tends to update with sketches and illustrations even when I don’t have time to write a longer blog post.  But today I did have time and things to say, so without further ado–

One project that I’m excited to share is that I recently did a small print run of Simpler, a four page comic I put together last semester.  The original version had a cover printed on copy paper with a design that I felt was rushed; the new edition has the two color silk screened card stock cover the comic deserved.  The comic is not yet available for sale online, but that’s something I’m hoping to set up in coming months.

Another project that has me excited is my anthology Break.  I finally finished the edits and made a test copy with the hand-stitched binding that I envisioned, and though there is currently only one complete copy, I’m pleased with how it’s looking and feel ready to start a slightly larger print run when I have time.

I think in a larger print run I will change the binding a little so it’s not quite as time consuming.  I like how this looks, but the time it takes is probably not worth it if I can still get a look and feel I like with less stitches.

My main project right now is still a long way from completion, and deadlines are starting to get closer.  I’m very happy with what I’ve done so far, but there’s still a long way to go.  I’ll be picking up the pace on that in coming weeks, but I’ll hopefully be able to find time to put together a couple of pieces for submission to a gallery show, continue pushing forward on some of my smaller projects and decide how I want to spend my summer.  Updates will be here as I have them.

April’s gonna be a whirlwind, but I think it’s gonna be a great ride.
