A new year

Hello loves.  It’s been awhile.

December and January have not been very good months for this comic.  When I started this summer, I expected we would be finishing up Chapter 4 by now and I would have made major headway on whatever story I intended to follow Emma with.  We haven’t finished chapter 3 yet (though we are very close) and beyond some concept sketches and a brief outline for the first chapter of a potential story, I haven’t made much progress on preparing the next piece.

There have been a lot of obstacles, some foreseen, other completely out of the blue.  My laptop’s hard drive failed in september, and when I got it back up and running again another part went out within mere weeks.  I’m using my Mom’s laptop now, which is largely functional, but my scanner is continuing to be a stubborn creature and doesn’t want to communicate with this computer.

All of which are hurtles that can be dealt with.  I discovered a scanner hidden in a computer lab in the math building that few other people use.  I ran out of my original paper supply and substituted with materials I could get from the campus book store after finding that the office supply place I’d previously purchased paper at no longer carried what I needed.  I have been busy and distracted and missed updates and posted late updates and made mistakes and gotten utterly and completely frustrated at my webcomic.

And I still love it.

As terrified as I am that my stories and drawings will never be as good as I want them to be, I love them.  As frustrated as I get some days and as infrequent as updates have been of late, I still love having this space to share my stories online.  I love every comment, even the ones left by spam bots that never show up on the actual site.  I love my characters, even when I’m sick of drawing them.  And I love you, my darling readers, for sticking this out with me despite my numerous imperfections.

There will be an update Friday.  This will close Chapter 3.  For the remainder of January I will update the comic on Tuesdays while I get my self reoriented and figure out how my schedule is going to work this semester.  Hopefully this will also give me a chance to get ahead on updates for February, when I will return full force with updates twice a week.

I look forward to this new year.  I think we can make it a good one.

  1. And I love you, dear storyteller. Of course, we are related, so maybe I’m a bit biased.
