February, progress bars and dinosaurs

February is rapidly coming to a close!  You can see some of my drawings and Q&A sketch comics from Sketch-A-Day February on tumblr, and there are more in my sketchbook waiting to be scanned or colored.  I will continue to take requests once the month is over, so keep sending questions and suggestions my way!

It is always fun to do stuff with my sketches that I don’t regularly do with my comics.  Every year I’ve done this something has come out of my sketchbook that inspires me to stretch my skills and try something different with my regular work.  The whole coloring method for Wits End came out of a sketch I did two years ago of one of my D&D characters, and this year I’m pushing that method a little further, exploring how I work and the parts of the drawing process where I am happiest.

I’ve been making some progress on the next chapter of Wits End, in short bursts of productivity and concentration.  Once I get a little further into the pencils I should be able to settle into a better rhythm and produce work more steadily.  I have to get myself back into that world, into that headspace.  I’m hoping to get on a roll and blast through the last two issues in quick succession.  You can keep an eye on my progress with the new progress tracker on the side of the page–I’ll start posting pages here as soon as I have enough colored that I can ensure a steady update schedule while I finish the rest.

I’ve also been making some progress on a few side projects I’ve been working on, including one that involves this little dinosaur I made a few days ago.  Not going to tell you what it’s for yet, because it may not come to anything, but if it does it’ll be pretty cool, and I will share it as soon as I have a working prototype.
